During May 15th – 21st, "technical training course on aquaculture for Iran" was held in Freshwater Fisheries Research Center commissioned by the Iranian Fisheries Administration (IFO). 11 participants including officials from Iranian Bureau of fisheries management, professors from the Universities and technical personnel participated in the training.
During the training, Prof. Xu Pao, director of FFRC and prof. Yuan Xinhua, deputy director of FFRC extended a warm welcome to all participants, and shared views on further deepening bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the Fisheries Science and technology. Prof. Xu Pao reviewed the technical guidance, human resources development between FFRC and Iran and donated fish fry as gifts in recent years. Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ghanaatparast Rashti, leader of Training class and Professor of Tehran University gave sincere gratitude for the careful arrangement of the training course. He also introduced the Iranian fisheries development, especially China made a contribution by sending experts to guide the Iranian fisheries development in the 1980s. He was worried about the existing problems in the introduction of aquaculture technology and equipment and he said that he hope to learn from China's aquaculture advanced technology and rich experience, in order to solve the problems existed in the carp farming and promote the sustainable development of aquaculture through this training,.
Iran is the important connecting point and transit station of the Silk Road, and it has a long history of fishery development. Freshwater Fisheries Research Center sent a delegation to Iran for 2 years of technical assistance in 1980's, which laid a good foundation for the development of aquaculture industry in Iran. With the advancement of aquaculture technology and degradation of germplasm resources, the Iranian government plans to carry out personnel training to improve the comprehensive ability of the sustainable development of fisheries, thus to prepare for the development of the fishery science.
