On October 24-25, Wan Yibing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of FFRC and director of the Huaihe River Basin Fishery Ecological Protection Research Center, went to Anqing to participate in the cruiseinspection of China Fishery Administration No. 030 vessel and expressed his condolences to the scientific research team of FFRC who is conducting the Yangtze River finless porpoise scientific investigation and the Chinese mitten crab flood season investigation in Anqing section of the Yangtze River.

From October 11- 31, the China Fishery Administration No.030 vessel under the custody of FFRC participated in the second round of simultaneous joint law enforcement operations in 2020. No. 030 vessel entered the Yangtze River from the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal after completing the theHuai Rivermain streamcruise task, and formed a formation with the newly-listed scientific research and monitoring ship Su Jing Fishing Section No. 31801 from FFRC. While carrying out the cruiseslaw enforcementinspection in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the two ships are carrying out the 2020 scientific survey ofthe Yangtze River finless porpoise, and equipped with scientific fish finder to simultaneously conduct acoustic survey of fishery resources. At the same time, FFRC’s own scientific research and monitoring ships Wan’anFishing Index No. 80001 and Wan’anFishing Index No.80002 have been carrying out the flood-season survey of Chinese mittencrab in Anqing section of the Yangtze River since October 15, and the survey will continue until the end of October.

Deputy secretary WanYibing participated in thecruises law enforcement inspection of No. 030 vessel, visited the crew and scientific research personnel of each vessel, checked the implementation of safety production and scientific research management and other institutional measures, and inspected the fixed monitoring station of fishery resources set up by FFRC at the estuary of Wanhe River in Anqing. Deputy secretary Wan Yibingalso participated in the Chinese mitten crab survey and conventional fishery resource monitoring.

After the inspection, deputy secretary Wan Yibing pointed out that the work team should further strengthen the conservation of aquatic biological resources and the protection of rare and endangered species in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River Basin, build a resource monitoring platform during the fishing-ban period, and systematically accumulate resource data, so as to provide technical support for the subsequent evaluation of the effect of the fishing-ban and biological integrity of the Yangtze River, and provide scientific and technological support for the 10-year fishing-ban in the Yangtze River.
