From October 15-18, 2018, the 6th Central Asia and Caucasus Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Committee (CACFish) meeting was held in Izmir, Turkey. For the first time, China was invited as an observer country to participate in the meeting. Appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Prof. Zhu Jian of our center led the Chinses delegation to attend the above meeting.

As the representative of the Chinese side, Prof. Zhu Jian gave a report titled “Strengthening China's cooperation with the CACFish Committee to promote the development of fisheries and aquaculture in member countries”. It briefly introduced the achievements of China's fishery development and highlighted the cooperation with CACFish and its member states in the fishery sector, like South-South cooperation, capacity building programs, technical consultation and assistance, academic exchanges, etc., as well as practical plans and recommendations.

Central Asia and the Caucasus countries are important partners in pushing the “Belt and Road” Initiative. China has signed agricultural cooperation agreements with many countries in the region and carried out multi-level and all-round fishery cooperation.
