On April 14, the “Training Course on Green Aquaculture Technology for African Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by FFRC was officially launched. Xu Gangchun, Deputy Director General of FFRC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Jing Xiaojun, Chief of the Dept. of International Cooperation and Education of FFRC, presided over the opening ceremony.

Mr. Daniel Byanwa, Director of Fisheries at Kalungu Local Government, Uganda, delivered a speech as representative of participants. He said that aquaculture in African countries faces multiple challenges, and he looks forward to learning about China's advanced concepts, practical technologies, successful cases and relevant policies in the development of green fisheries through this training, so as to help the development of domestic fisheries and help local fishermen establish a safe and healthy aquaculture environment.

Deputy Director General Xu Gangchun extended a warm welcome to all the participants. He hoped that FFRC and all the participants will work together to explore the innovative application of new green aquaculture technologies, to integrate green development into the whole process of aquaculture, to promote the construction of a healthy ecological aquaculture system, to give full play to the ecological service of aquaculture industry, and to jointly write a new chapter in the sustainable development of green aquaculture in China and Africa.

This training course aims to respond to the implementation of the “Nine Projects” between China and Africa, actively play the role of “China-Africa Joint Center for Modern Agricultural Technology Exchange and Training”, and continue to promote the green and high-quality development of Africa’s fishery industry through capacity building projects. 27 participants from 12 countries participate in this 14-day training course.
