On November 25-27, the 2022 Annual Meeting of Jiangsu Genetics Society & Academic Symposium on the Commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of Mendel’s Birth were held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. Wang Lanmei, Associate Researcher of the Dept. of Fishery Genetics & Breeding of FFRC, Miao Linghong, Associate Researcher of the Dept. of Fishery Veterinary &Feed Nutrition, Dr. Gao Jiancao of the Dept. of Aquaculture and graduate students of related research departments attended the meeting.

The theme of this meeting is “Genetics and Seed Industry Revitalization”, and Academician Qian Qian of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Cheng Zhukuan of Yangzhou University, Professor Wang Kejian of China National Rice Research Institute, and Professor Pan Yuchun of Zhejiang University were invited to give the special reports. At the meeting, Dr. Liang Zhengyuan of Nanjing Agricultural University gave a report on “Thinking about the development of the American shad industry from the perspective of genetic breeding”, which aroused warm responses.

The meeting set up three sub-sessions to introduce the latest progress of genetics research in Jiangsu from botany, medicine and zoology, and to conduct academic exchanges. Jiang Bingjie and Jiang Wenqiang, PhD students of Wuxi Fisheries College of Nanjing Agricultural University, won the second prize and the excellent paper respectively.

This meeting played a positive role in promoting communication and cooperation in the field of genetics in Jiangsu Province and accurately serving the rural revitalization and development of Jiangsu province.
