    Two Foreign Aid Training Courses of FFRC were Successfully Started

    On Nov. 9, the “Training course on Tilapia Breeding and High-yield Farming Techniques for Developing Countries” and the “Training Course on Fish Disease Prevention & Control and Quality & Safety Control for Developing Countries”, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by Freshwater Fisheries Research Center, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, were successfully started. Ye Zheng, Deputy Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government, and Bing Xuwen, Deputy Director General of FFRC attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr.Jing Xiaojun, Chief of the Dept. of International Cooperation and Education of FFRC.

    Deputy Director Ye Zheng said that for many years, Wuxi Foreign Affairs Office has been committed to expanding the city's multilateral exchanges, building a cooperation network for international exchange, promoting international capacity cooperation, and assisting local enterprises in exploring the international market. In the future, Wuxi Foreign Affairs Office is willing to make full use of the “Sino-Foreign Fisheries Cooperation Platform” established by FFRC to promote win-win cooperation with our participants’ countries in various fields.

    Deputy Director General Bing Xuwen mentioned in his speech that it is particularly important to tap the culture potential of superior varieties such as tilapia and improve the ability to prevent and control aquatic diseases and manage the quality and safety of aquatic products. He hoped that all participants could take this opportunity to learn from each other, and strive to improve the technical level in the field of tilapia and health management.

    Ms. Mercy Onyango, fisheries officer from Kenya Fisheries Service, and Ms. Prasadi De Silva, a senior lecturer of Uva Wellassa University in Sri Lanka, made speeches as representatives of the participants.

    91 participants from 10 countries, including Kenya, the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Iraq, Mozambique, Myanmar, South Africa and Egypt attended these two training courses.

    In addition, the “Training Course on Green Fisheries Technology Innovation and Carbon Neutrality for Developing Countries” and the “Training Course on Fish Seed Production and Feed Development for Developing Countries” sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by FFRC were successfully completed. A total of 96 participants from 9 countries including Thailand, Uganda, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Kenya, Nepal, Egypt and Mozambique attended the two training courses.
