On March 29, the R&D Center of the National Characteristic Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System organized an online conference on the development trend and scientific and technological innovation of China’s tilapia industry under the new situation. More than 20 people from the team attended the meeting. The meeting also invited Wang Xueguang, executive secretary of China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance and chairman of the Tilapia Branch.

The participating experts had extensive exchanges on the development status, constraints and development trends of tilapia breeding direction, aquaculture model, facilitation, waste water treatment, disease prevention and control, quality and safety, feed development, standard system, domestic and foreign market development, and the B&R international cooperation. Secretary-General Wang Xueguang said that the Tilapia Association would continue to be committed to the development of the domestic market, including the production of pre-made dishes and related new media publicity materials; to be market-oriented and to find the development direction of the tilapia industry from the needs of the market; at the same time establish market norms, formulate industry standards, and promote the healthy development of the tilapia industry. Researcher Yang Hong, Chief Scientist of the system, pointed out that system experts should maintain close cooperation, continue to conduct research on industrial needs at the basic level, accelerate the development of the tilapia seed industry, solve the problem of disease prevention and control, innovate the facility culture model, and at the same time do a good job in publicizing and transformation of the technical achievements of the tilapia industry, improve the popularity of tilapia and better serve the development of the industry.
